The 7 Cyprus Law Schools

Cyprus has many universities that offer undergraduate and postgraduate law degrees; however, careful consideration needs to be given when choosing a university, as each individual course can differ significantly from another.


One of the main considerations is the choice of law. This blog focuses on and presents the universities within the Greek-Cypriot side of Cyprus, which offer students the choice to study English, Cypriot or Greek law.


You can find all the universities below, along with their introductory text and courses. All titles are associated with links.



"The School of Law is pursuing a clearly defined mission statement. - PhD in Law



"The Faculty of Law was established in 2006, aiming to provide high quality legal education. The launch of the first law degrees at postgraduate level was realised in September 2018 for the PhD and in January 2019 for the LLM. Since 2006, the Department offers courses in law to cross-registering students of other departments of the University of Cyprus as open elective or embedded courses.


The Department of Law is leading the study of Cypriot law and its development in a manner that meets the requirements of modern society and the challenges at international and European level. The study of law in the department aims at cultivating critical legal thought and the combination of theory, expertise and practical spirit.


In addition to the high standards of teaching, one of the main priorities of the Department is the cultivation of scientific research. The international scientific presence of its academic staff is strong. Academic staff members have significant involvement in international, European and domestic research activities and programs. At the same time, the Department regularly organizes a variety of scientific events that cover a wide range of law-related subjects, as well as a series of research seminars."

"With more than 25 years of experience in the provision of a top-tier legal education, the School of Law can also be credited for awarding the first Law degrees in Cyprus that were officially recognised academically by the Republic and professionally recognised by the Cyprus Legal Council.


Today, our School offers a number of innovative courses and legal programmes that are recognised by the Cyprus Legal Council for access to the legal profession. Through these, we aim to help you gain a competitive edge in a prestigious selection of professional careers.


Further, our European Studies and International Relations programmes aim to address the impact the economic, political and social issues surrounding Cyprus, the Eastern Mediterranean and the broader region, the EU and the international arena. "The Department of Law aims to educate its students in legal sciences to enable them to develop their legal reasoning and argumentation, and to actively support them in conducting high-level research in all branches of legal science. Finally, it aims to develop collaborations with other research institutions and centres, the business world, the wider community of jurists creating channels of communications with legal practice for students and future graduates, as well as collaborations with the civil society and other stakeholders and organisations to promote innovation, sustainability, social cohesion and quality of life."

"The School of Business and Law having solidified a long and well-recognised presence in the field of Cyprus Higher Education, has established the Department of Law in 2012.

Its primary goal is to provide students with a thorough and high-quality education in the field of law by harmoniously integrating them in the apprenticeship of the science of law: A systematised body of knowledge that interprets the law in force in a given society as regulatory rules of the social life of people.


The Department comprises experienced as well as young academics both from Cyprus and internationally. It is also complemented with visiting professors and, importantly, esteemed practitioners who instil a strong applied dimension to the Department. It currently, offers a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Master in Maritime Law (LLM)."
